Achieving a greater degree of roundedness, mean you must give attention to each of your 7 dimensions as shown. Any over- prioritising or under-priorising of any one or more of your wellness dimensions will result in your life being out of balance.

Everyone will have a different definition of wellness and of the number or type of wellness dimensions. Some advocates will focus only on four main areas such as spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical; while others will say that there are 7, 8 or even 6 wellness dimensions.

It really depends upon the perspective of the individual. However, any definition of the wellness dimensions must consider all aspects of your life that contribute to your overall sense of wellness.

In much the same way that there are varying degrees of, and conditions that lead to wellness, there are also varying degrees of, and conditions that lead to ill-health.

    Associated to each of the 7 wellness dimensions are many different factors that can either cause movement toward optimum wellness or toward the illness end of the spectrum. These dimensions are interconnected and as such, there is continuous interaction with each other. For instance, if you're unhappy or stressed in your work/career dimension, this will undoubtedly impact on your emotional well-being and family/personal relationships dimensions etc.,

    To maintain and/or improve your wellness quotient in each of the above areas, you will need to become your own wellness monitor and do a frequent stock take to access your responses to events and challenges in your life. Use your journal to help you enter into a self-dialogue about any and every aspect of your wellness needs and your solutions to remedy them. Then, set yourself some goals to rebalance those aspects of your health dimensions.

    Do bear in mind that just as there are categories and sub-categories in your Physical health dimension - i.e. Food Nutrition, Beauty Health, Weight loss exercise etc., the same is true of your other 6 wellness dimensions.
