7 Dimensions Of Wellness

This article provide an overview of your 7 dimensions of wellness. It will in turn link to each dimension individually, with a view to exploring more fully the factors relevant to each of these 7 aspects of health and wellness.

A definition of wellness will mean different things to different women. On a whole, wellness is defined as being in a state of good health. However, each woman's definition of wellness will largely depend on how she perceives, assess and manage her needs and life circumstance/events.

As you can see from the Health Womens Wellness Wheel, there are 7 dimensions of wellness. These are:

  • Physical Wellness

  • Psychological, Mental and Emotional Wellness

  • Career Health And Wellness

  • social networks wellness

  • Financial Health And Wellness

  • Spiritual Health and Wellness Dimension

  • Personal Relationships/Family Wellness

Should one or more of these seven dimensions be under or over-prioritised, your overall wellness areas will be out of sync and out of balance. Your aim is to obtain a degree of balance and harmony across all your 7 dimensions of health and wellness areas that are represented by the health womens health wheel.

Yet, it is not unusual that many of us focus primarily upon the physical dimension of wellness for determining our state of health. While taking care of your physical health by ensuring adequate food health nutrition and regular exercising of your body is essential for health, these aspects of self-care represents only one dimension of your 7 aspects of health and wellness.

Since your body and mind are interrelated, each and every one of your 7 dimensions of wellness need to work in harmony with the another for optimal health and wellness balance.

In much the same way that you feed and exercise your body (physical dimension of wellness), you need also to feed and nourish your other 6 dimensions for optimal health and wellness in those areas.

The following is an overview of each of the 7 dimensions of wellness. Just click on the live links to visit each one in turn.

mental wellness: factors relating to your ability to manage life's challenges while maintaining a sense of perspective

emotional wellness: is concerned with your feelings and experiences of emotions such as love, fear, joy, sadness, anger etc., How you manage and control these emotions will be reflected in the strategies you employ for coping.

Spiritual wellbeing requires us to believe in something far greater than ourselves. Whatever your personal spiritual beliefs, this fourth aspect of your 7 dimensions of wellness demands that you constantly seek and draw faith, hope and inspiration, whether through prayer; through nature; through meditation; or through your work.
