Easter Dessert Recipe - Chocolate Fudge Cake

Easter Dessert Recipe - Chocolate Fudge Cake Recipe

  • Preparation Time: 25 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 30 minutes
  • Serves 12:

  • 175g (6 oz) butter or margarine
  • 175g (6 oz) caster sugar
  • 1 and a half tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 200g (7oz) plain flour
  • 50g (2 oz) cocoa powder
  • 2 tps bicarbonate of soda
  • qtr tsp salt
  • 175 ml (6 fl oz) milk

    Frosting

  • 50g (2 oz) softened butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3 qtr tsp instant coffee granules
  • half tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 egg (pasturised)
  • 275g (10 oz) icing sugar



    Preparation

  • Heat oven to 180C (350 F/Gas 4). Grease and base line a 30 x 20 cm (12 x 8in) cake tin

  • Cream butter and sugar until blended. Stir in vanilla essence. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition until fluffy

  • Sift flour, cocoa, bicarbonate of soda and salt into a bowl. Add to creamed mixture with milk, beating until smooth. Spread in tin

  • Bake in oven for 30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Leave to stand for 10 minutes then turn out on to a wire rack. Peel off paper and leave to cool

  • To make frosting for your Easter dessert recipe, combine butter, cocoa powder and instant coffee. Add vanilla essence, pasturised egg and icing sugar and beat until smooth. Spread over cake
