Back pain is one of the biggest and debilitating complaints among women and men today, young and old. For many women, back pain can become an issue especially during and after pregnancy. Once your back has been weakened, taking care of it and working to strengthen it must become your priority.
Each year sees millions of people resort to either prescribed pain killers or, ultimately surgery. However, these approaches often do little if anything to tackle the root cause of back pain and are more likely to leave you with unwanted side effects.
Some likely causes of back pain include strained or pulled ligaments, slipped discs, arthritis or scoliosis etc., To be successful in controlling or eradicating back pain, you must first understand the nature and cause. Armed with this knowledge, you're in a strong position to take appropriate action that is right for you and for your circumstances. You simply cannot take a blanket approach to back pain by popping endless strong pain killers, which can have their own health implications too.
Everyone will experience back pain differently and for completely different reasons. A natural remedy that you should give your serious consideration, is yoga. Yoga is increasingly being embraced by the medical community who continue to encourage patients and clients to take it up for various health reasons, including back pain. Yoga also provide effective stress management and relaxation techniques - a much needed fitness medium for today's busy and demanding lifestyle.
The added benefits of yoga being a holistic fitness choice is further evidenced by a study on two groups of women, funded by The American Council On Exercise. The results showed significant improvements of greater flexibility, muscular strength, endurance and balance in the womens group who practiced hatha yoga 3 times each week, compared to the non-yoga group.
On top of the many health benefits, yoga has no adverse side effects either. Today, many people use yoga to help alleviate back pain, reduce stress, increase flexibility. Whether you have major scoliosis or minor imbalances in the body, You will want to consider a yoga video, classes or yoga dvd that offers a medical analysis of yoga for back health as well as a holistic solution to include poses to ease pain and strengthen your back.
Whether you want to take up yoga specifically for your back pain or for any other health-related reason, you will find an excellent collection of health-specific yoga to suit your personal needs
Yoga is by no means the only option for your back pain and back care. If your partner is anything like mine - and I quote, "yoga is womens stuff"! (until I educated him that is), there is an alternative. Even if you're just looking to engage in weight loss exercise while at the same time protecting and strengthening your back, read on.
A new program reveals how to firm and flatten your ABS... without Sit Ups, Endless Crunches, Or Worthless Infomercial Junk.
According to David Grisaffi, a certified corrective exercise kinesiologist and health and fitness trainer, a weak core, combined with other problems such as tightness in certain muscle groups, poor form and poor selection of exercises is one of the leading causes of lower back pain. The good news is that it's largely preventable with a few easy exercises, at the same time you're firming and flattening your abdominal muscles.
David's program (which is suitable for both women and men), is designed to rapidly shrink your waistline and help you eliminate lower back pain, while strengthening and flattening your abdominal muscle group.
You'll find further information on doing abdominal exercises, as well as an evaluation of the value and risks of sit-ups and crunches on your back health...
3. An Apple A Day
Recent research confirms the Mediterranean diet being a safe and healthy way to eat, that is also an effective method of weight maintenance. The facts about this healthy eating diet is that it contains plentiful amounts of antioxidants that offer protective properties for healthy cells, thus warding off some cancers. The Mediterranean diet is low in calories, low in harmful saturated fats and is ideal for people on a low calorie and vegetarian diet too. Weight loss doesn't have to be about drugs or diet pills, which can wreak havoc with both your metabolism and immune system.
The prospect of a weight reduuction diet can seem a very daunting and restricting experience for some women. Even more so, if you happen to be a vegetarian, since most weightloss diets will nearly always mean limiting your intake of some foods or another, which can only spell deprivation in one form or another.
Depriving yourself of foods you love however, not only poses the risk of inadequate nutrition but leave you prone to giving into temptation, thus limiting your chances of succeeding with your weight loss goals. The other sad reality is, that once you have finished your dieting and start eating normally, statistics shows you're more likely to regain any lost weight plus some.
It is for this reason that the Mediterranian diet approach and lifestyle is being hailed as one of the healthiest in the world. Say goodbye to starvation and fad diets or even an over-zealous preoccupation with strenuous physical exercise.
Recent research confirms some of the other benefits of the Mediterranean diet include the lowering of the harmful LDL cholesterol - known to cause heart and other chronic diseases, including cancer. Olive oil is one of the chief contributors to these heart health benefits, among so many others.
Irrespective of your health goals, you too can start benefiting from this healthy eating diet, that calls for little significant changes to your present lifestyle and to how you're currently eating. It is important to note that the Mediterranean diet is not low carb, is not low calorie, is not a starvation diet, yet is ideal if you're a vegetarian also.
The Mediterranian diet approach promotes both weight maintenance and a healthy lifestyle of regular activity, enabling you to achieve your health and fitness goals. To learn more about this diet,

4. Beauty And Beyond
With the ever increasing array of air-brushed and superficial imageries of super models and glamour puss facade that confront us on a daily basis, it is understandable that many women fall into the trap of believing that these are true reflections of beauty or of being beautiful. Do You?
Research shows that about 80% of women are not happy with the way they look. This means that it's only a poor 20% of us who are. How sad, because I'm willing to bet that that the 20% of women who are satisfied with the way they look, are not super models or celebrities, but every day, extra-ordinary women - mothers, single women, wives etc., who happen to have a healthy sense of self-love, self-worth and are happy with being who they are. If you fall into the 80% group, I strongly recommend you read:
A Waist Is A Terrible Thing To Mind: A Wake Up Call, by Jan Phillips. It really is an excellent read on womens perception of their body image A Waist Is A Terrible Thing To Mind: A Wake Up Call, >>
If you're less than happy with how you look, or with your beauty health, you will have to work to bring about positive change. This involves working on two levels. Firstly, your starting point must be on an inner level - and involve your thinking processes... 'Thinking' is an an art form so...
Or how about building on your 'woman of substance' status! Note, these are designed for the alternative woman for whom beauty is more than 'skin deep'...
Understanding and appreciating your inner beauty is a pre- requisite to working on your outer beauty. After all, you wouldn't dream of glossing over a paint cracked wall without first stripping it, sanding and cleaning it prior to painting it. You know what would happen if you did that! So why do it to yourself! Make-up cannot conceal how and what you're feeling on the inside so deal with the inside stuff first. That's where your true beauty lies.
Once you've worked out what you think about your inner beauty, you'll be a whole lot happier and accepting of your body/beauty image. you're now ready to move onto the next level which is where you pay attention to that outer glow you should by now be radiating. Ah - with such little work left do there's probably no point at all in my offering you this excellent health and Beauty Tips ebook. Trust me there's not a lipstick in sight. It's jam-packed with practical and useful tips on skin and hair care, healthy smoothies and so much more that I think I must be crazy to be giving it away - but you know what? Woman to woman, You deserve it.
